The Clock family are four-inch-tall people who live in the recesses of a suburban garden home, unbeknownst to the homeowner and her housekeeper. Like all little people, Arrietty remains hidden from view under the floorboards unless borrowing scrap supplies like sugar cubes from her human neighbours. Life changes for the Clocks when Arriety is discovered by a human boy visiting the house.
